Weekend purchases…

Because what I really need in my life are more records, I bought a couple of things at the used CD store yesterday…and am enjoying them very much. Namely…

Souvlaki, Slowdive
Maybe the prettiest and softest of all the shoegazers…good Sunday morning music. Here’s “Allison”

S-T, Stone Roses
It really like a shame that all I had of this group was their much-inferior second album. This is “Made of Stone”

Repulsion Box, Sons & Daughters
Though I quite enjoyed This Gift, lots of people told me that, you know, they liked the earlier stuff better. So I thought I’d check out this CD out…it includes “Dance Me In”

What did you do this weekend?

do you buy albums in alphabetically? i only ask because that is what i did for awhile, when i was making weekly trips to Amoeba.

i was sick this weekend, and was attempting to make a valentine's cd for a failed romance.

i think i like your weekend better.

Hah, that's funny, I didn't even notice that, but I was definitely stuck in the "s" section yesterday.

I hope you feel better, Lucy. I've never cared for Valentine's Day, even back in grade school when it involved chocolate.

We were going to go skiing today and got almost all the way there when it started pouring. we turned around to go home, because who wants to ski in the rain and in 45 minutes the sun was shining again. So don't be too jealous about my weekend, lady...it wasn't all that.

thanks. i've never cared for valentine's day either.

*sends poison darts at the day*

heh.

i'm sorry your ski trip got rained out/sunned in. maybe next weekend?

Oh yes, we will ski again soon.

It was one of those days that nothing was really as much fun as it was supposed to be anyway. I was probably pushing too hard. I do that sometimes. I don't think Sean (my son) wanted to go.

I might just go by myself next week.

What's on your mix so far?

And I know you have a heavy heart; I can feel it when we kiss
So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it
But me I’m not a gamble you can count on me to split
The love I sell you in the evening, by the morning won’t exist.

- Bright Eyes, Lua

Love that one. Almost all songs on the first couple Elvis Costello and Graham Parker albums as well, just invert the pronouns.

Perhaps those of us with unfinished mixes need to form a collective, I've got some terrific 2-3 song segues lying around (including, Jen, Thin Dominion from the new Arbouretum crashing headlong into the Jam's Mr. Clean).

I've tried the alphabetical thing at Amoeba, but I'm in debt by the time I get through the B's.

Lua makes me cry, but fits exactly. i love that song. and yes, i was thinking elvis costello's 'I Know' actually.

i think i stopped at C because i was getting far too broke. Amoeba is an addiction, seriously.
